Liao Wen

The solo exhibition of Chinese artist Liao Wen (b. 1994 in Chengdu, China; lives and works in Hong Kong) unfolds as a total artwork in which each of the component works retains an inherent ontological value, but also exists in relation to an overarching dynamic rendering visible the social, cultural and aesthetic paradigms that inform our sense of disgust. Liao Wen queries the prospect of overturning such paradigms, and whether the notion of repulsion can be understood as the latent and germinative stage of a new way of perceiving.
