Lidia Russkova-Hasaya: Portal

«Portal» is set in a massive metal circuit, so that we feel the ephemeral nature of transparent glass in contrast with the rough material. The familiar contours of the door attract visitors researching the art space, however the door itself has no handles and cannot (yet) be opened.

While the door symbolizes a feeling of hope and the possibility of a new beginning in the future, a transition to a new state, perhaps, to a better and safer space, that in fact can’t be entered leaving visitors constrained to their current reality.
