Ljubodrag Andric: Spazi, soglie, luci
Born in Belgrade in 1965 and now based in Toronto, artist Ljubodrag Andric makes his return to Venice following his 2016 debut at the Fondazione Querini Stampalia.
This exhibition—organised in partnership between the Fondazione Giorgio Cini and BUILDING gallery in Milan—presents a dialogue between Andric’s photographic works taken during his time in Italy and those inspired by historic buildings in Jaipur, Lucknow, and other locations across the heart of India. Of particular note is his focus on the Palladian architecture of the monumental complex on the Island of San Giorgio Maggiore.
His images reveal the interplay between forms, atmospheres, light, and shadow, guiding viewers through a journey where architecture becomes metaphor. In recent years, Andric has explored structures with organic qualities, emotional materials, and unpredictable, labyrinthine paths. The exhibition centres not just on the unique locations captured, but on the distinct visual language Andric has developed.
