L’una nell’altra (One in the Other)
From 9 July to 16 August 2026, Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa presents "L'una nell'altra" ("One in the Other"), an exhibition curated by Giovanni Giacomo Paolin, bringing together a selection of recently acquired works in the Sala del Camino at SS. Cosma e Damiano, Giudecca.
The exhibition is part of "Time after Time", a project by Stefano Coletto supporting and promoting the BLM Collection through the work of artists from the historic Atelier programme. The initiative is supported by PAC 2025 – Piano per l’Arte Contemporanea and Cantica21, promoted by the Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity of the Italian Ministry of Culture.
"L'una nell'altra" ("One in the Other") explores the relationship between artists, the city of Venice, and the idea of permanence. The artists featured have all passed through the Bevilacqua La Masa Atelier programme, experiencing Venice not simply as a backdrop, but as a place of exchange, growth and transformation.
Through installation, painting, video, photography and sculpture, the exhibition brings together diverse practices connected by reflections on contemporary landscapes, fragility, change and traces of human presence.
The works explore themes ranging from environmental transformation and coastal erosion to the perception of urban space, memory and the changing nature of materials. Highlights include Caterina Erica Shanta’s "Calante", Davide Sgambaro’s immersive light installation "FENOMENO (Smiley)", G. Olmo Stuppia’s reflection on a marginal and nocturnal Venice in "Sposare la notte – Controcartolina Venezia", Giuseppe Di Liberto’s video performance on the body and memory, and works by Fabio Roncato and Caterina Morigi investigating material transformation and instability.
The exhibition opens with a talk featuring curators, researchers and participating artists, exploring the relationship between the city and artistic practice, as well as the role of contemporary art support and research.
With "L'una nell'altra" ("One in the Other"), Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa continues its commitment to supporting emerging artists and developing a collection that reflects not only artworks, but also the relationships, experiences and processes behind them.
