Maurice Marinot: The Glass, 1911-1934

Le Stanze del Vetro, Isola di San Giorgio Maggiore 8, Venice, Italy

Organised by Le Stanze del Vetro in collaboration with the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris (MAD), the exhibition features 200 glass pieces by Maurice Marinot, on loan from international museums. The French artist has been a fundamental figure in the history of modern glass art, who also laid the foundations for the contemporary production thanks to his experimentations with form and techniques. The exhibition marks the occasion to spread the knowledge about this still little-known figure and it is the first international homage paid to this glass artisan. “Maurice Marinot. The Glass, 1911-1934″ retraces Marinot’s craftsmanship until the year 1934, when he abandoned glass due to the shutdown of the glass factory in Bar-sur-Seine. Along with the produced items, on view also 115 preparatory drawings and sketches.
