Michele Spanghero: Tracks

Starting from October 28 at 6pm, the Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa opens Michele Spanghero's solo exhibition at Palazzetto Tito to the public.

Michele Spanghero (Gorizia, 1979) is considered among the finest artists of his generation in the realm of sound art research, he presents his first comprehensive retrospective in Venice. The exhibition, titled “Tracks”, curated by Stefano Coletto, seeks to reinterpret Spanghero‘s body of work through a selection of pieces, some of which have never been showcased before.

Set within the elegant exhibition space of the Venetian Palazzetto, works spanning various periods, crafted over nearly two decades of exploration, intermingle, fusing analytical contemplations on the architecture of exhibition spaces, meticulous design inquiries into the materialisation of sound language, and, within the installations, the fusion of sculpture, audio, video projection, and photography.

The exhibition invites the public into a comprehensive exploration of the themes that have long defined the artist’s research. Prominent works such as “Double Negative” and “1:10,000” delve into the interplay between emptiness and form, while “Difference and Repetition” and “Studies on the Density of White” reveal the artist’s fascination with an analytical investigation of the geometry of exhibition spaces. Additionally, the exhibition offers an opportunity to experience the artist’s intricate exploration of theatrical space, including “Monologue” and the sound sculptures “Echea” which reimagine the tradition of ancient amphorae for sound amplification in theatres.

Through a multi-sensory encounter, the “Tracks” exhibition outlines the artist’s ongoing dialogue with sound, space and form, transforming seemingly absent sound into a tangible and ever-evolving experience.
