Odalisque With Red Culottes

The group exhibition features ten international artists. The show means to celebrate the great influence of Henri Matisse‘s work on younger generations of artists. As a matter of fact, the exhibition assume as starting point Matisse’s paintings of nude female sitters, depicted against patterned backdrops or clothing, and is titled after one of these paintings of his.

The exhibition is the occasion for nine artists, both established and younger ones, to dialogue with the work of the great painter, exploring themes such as the relationship between the female body and patterns and between the model and the artist, as well as the many possible representations  of women.
