Opera. I protagonisti del melodramma

A charming journey of the opera's history through the centuries, from its origins in Italy, particularly in Venice, until today.

Palazzo Ducale, Piazza San Marco 1, Venice, Italy

Music, painting, sculpture, architecture; lyric opera gather together different languages in a multi-sensorial experience. Its story is linked and influenced by historical, political, social and economic factors and its development goes through multiple steps involving multiple people: clients, contractors, composers, singers, costume designers, scenographers and finally the public.

The exhibition is a tribute to Venice, as the place where the melodrama was born, and to Italy as the motherland of the most renowned names of opera’s history.
