Outta Love

OUTTA LOVE brings together nine artists – Angela Brandys, Darren Bader, Vivian Maier, Milko Pavlov, Jenny Saville, Daniel Spivakov, Wolfgang Tillmans, Lawrence Weiner, and Francesca Woodman – across painting, photography, installation, and textile to explore how we situate ourselves and our desires in the world. Rather than building a unified narrative, the exhibition presents works that appear to contradict one another, each confronting the viewer with its own distinct reality. Installed across the rooms of Palazzo Vendramin ai Carmini, whose architectural character and visible traces of past use actively frame the works, the pieces are encountered individually before relationships between them gradually emerge.

The works approach questions of physicality, identity, and experience from distinct angles: one addresses the inescapability of the body; another looks at fashion as a kind of second skin; elsewhere, objects, surfaces, and fragments shape how we move through the world. Imagined spaces and dreams appear alongside reflections on how we look at the world and how we are seen within it. Each work holds its own tensions between intimacy and distance, construction and fragmentation, control and vulnerability, and the exhibition makes no attempt to resolve them. OUTTA LOVE proposes instead a space in which ideas of love, selfhood, and perception remain open, unstable, and in flux.
