Paul Mccarthy and Christian Lemmerz: New Media (Virtual Reality Art)
On the occasion of the 57th Venice Biennale and as part of the summer’s Faurschou Foundation presentation in Venice, Khora VR launches its new project Khora Contemporary, a Virtual Reality Company born specifically to enable artists to create new scenarios where the psychological and physical dimensions overlap.
For the Venice launch at Fondazione Giorgio Cini, have been chosen German artist, Christian Lemmerz, and LA-based Paul McCarthy, both of them changing their practices approaching to this fast-evolving medium.
The early work “La Apparizione” by Christian Lemmerz, gives to the visitor a closer experience with a burning corpse of Jesus Christ dripping golden blood into the physical space of the viewer to destroy religious stereotypes.
Paul McCarthy’s work “CSSC VR experiment “what is your name?” has been conceived for the show in Venice revisiting previous characters that interact with the viewer invading his physical and psychological borders and entering his personal personal space.
