Picasso, Morandi, Parmiggiani: Still Lifes

Bevilacqua La Masa – Piazza San Marco, Piazza San Marco, San Marco 71/c

Istituzione Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa, with the collaboration and scientific support of Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia, presents an exhibition initiated and organised by Tornabuoni Art, with the exceptional participation of Musée national Picasso-Paris and curated by Cécile Debray, President of the museum.

The exhibition brings together works by Pablo Picasso, Giorgio Morandi and Claudio Parmiggiani, focusing on still life as a field for reflecting on representation and the mediation of reality through the artist’s studio. It sets up a dialogue between three distinct approaches to the object. Picasso’s bricolage, assemblages and deconstructions develop a new pictorial language while reactivating the theme of memento mori. Morandi’s serial compositions of ordinary bottles, repeatedly arranged and rearranged in his studio, appear as timeless and metaphysical forms. Parmiggiani’s works, defined as smoke-shadows of objects, reflect on absence and disappearance, offering a contemporary reading of the Vanitas tradition. Through formal and poetic correspondences, the exhibition constructs a contemplative path through still life, addressing time, reality and artistic practice.
