Robert Rauschenberg & Andy Warhol: “Us Silkscreeners…”
To coincide with the 57th Venice Biennale, Faurschou Foundation present two historically important exhibitions at the Fondazione Giorgio Cini: “Us Silkscreeners…”, and Late Series to give a deepen insight to Robert Rauschenberg’s art practice.
“Us Silkscreeners…” investigates the use of silkscreens, analyzing Rauschenberg’s and Warhol’s early works Renascence and a piece of Dollar Bills Series, respectively. At the beginning of the ‘60s, both artists was using this technique but only in 1962 they met to discuss this approach and the result was to create silkscreen imagery taken from photography.
For the first time works testifying the relationship between the artists are brought together. The exhibition is also a tribute to Rauschenberg who has been honored in Venice in 1964 with a Golden Lion Award for his innovative silkscreens technique.
