Secundino Hernández: Grapado a la Piel

“Grapado a la Piel” is the result of Secundino Hernández‘s residency at Victoria Miro’s studio space in Venice.
For this body of work, the artist focuses on the human form and produced small-scale figurative paintings condensing Hernández’s approach to material and process. The presence of Venice on these works in perceivable in his use of colour reflected in the flesh tones of Venice’s architecture and in the textures of the bodies on canvas that recall the surfaces of its timeworn waterside buildings.
