Shen Jingdong was here
The exhibition uses the graffiti mark “I was here” often found in contemporary China. It is a common behaviour among travellers to carve it on walls or bamboo with knives or other sharp instruments. Shen Jingdong considers himself a tourist or a bystander looking to leave a trace in one of the most important contemporary art events worldwide: the Venice Biennale. He has filled the exhibition space with balloons to create an almost naive atmosphere and with paintings representing round-eyed kids. The spaces seem crowded and resemble an amusement park aimed at providing the audience with a deeply immersive and creative learning experience while leaving them with a lasting impression. The exhibition is organised and produced in collaboration with We Exhibit.
