Spiral Economy: Charrière and Canova
Curated by Chiara Squarcina and Pier Paolo Pancotto, with the collaboration of Claudia Cargnel, “Spiral Economy” unfolds as a dialogue between Julian Charrière and Antonio Canova through the spaces of Museo Correr. The exhibition examines marble as both material and image, foregrounding its physical presence, geological formation and temporal depth.
In relation to Canova’s idealised forms, Charrière approaches marble as a body in its own right, marked by fissures, veins and textures that carry the memory of ancient seas and metamorphic processes. The exhibition considers the material not only as a vehicle of beauty but also as a witness to planetary duration. In the historic Canova Galleries, the presentation reflects on attempts to measure and master time, proposing instead a perspective in which matter itself becomes a register of deep time and transformation.
