The Abbey of Montmatre (Premio W)
The Wilmotte Foundation presents the exhibition of the eleventh edition of the Prix W, an architectural competition dedicated to promoting the concept of architectural grafting — an elegant dialogue between heritage and contemporary creation. Since 2005, the Foundation has awarded prizes and bursaries to outstanding students and young graduates from European architecture schools, selected by an international jury of architects, artists, journalists, and cultural figures.
This year, participants are invited to reimagine the ruins of the Saint-Maur Monastery at Montmajour Abbey, a remarkable heritage site managed by the Centre of National Monuments. Through bold and thoughtful proposals, the shortlisted projects explore new ways to revitalise this historic setting, merging preservation with innovation.
The exhibition showcases the laureate projects, celebrating the creativity and vision of a new generation of architects while engaging with the living history of Montmajour. These proposals reflect not only technical skill and imagination but also a deep respect for the cultural significance of place. Through this display, the Wilmotte Foundation continues its mission to support architectural excellence and foster meaningful conversations between the past and the future.
