Ugo Carmeni: Flood
The interest on space and time is the focus in Carmeni‘s research, choosing colors starting even from literary sources; the green of Garcia Lorca but also the insights of Lewis Carroll, writer and mathematician.
Carmeni is an architect, researcher , photographer and experimental scholar. But also a cartographer – in the true sense of the word, having analyzed in depth geographic maps – tracing through work on a photo shoot, the parts that need to be put in relief , those that can blur, with the result of a new ‘photographic geography’, appropriate to say.
The important thing is that the cartographer will be parallel always with the explorer, and Carmeni like the idea of making the observer as explorer. We do not care anymore, the precept of what to do with the photograph, but what can make a photograph. So turn back from the beginning. “You should never judge a photographer on the type of film that uses, but only as from the use”. Ernst Haas. Precise, as a perception.
