Venice Triennale: In the Name of Freedom in the Art
Art has experienced radical changes in recent times, so much that the currents, in which the ideas followed an orientation and an uniform expressive stile, dissolved. This fragmentation of artistic canons come together in the project proposed for the Palazzo Albrizzi, in which sufficient freedom of expression is provided to the artist, be that painting, sculpture, video, installations, performance, occasionally in a poetic-musical context.
In the exhibition area of the historical Palazzo are exposed works traceable to a topic, whose common eponym is heard universally: “Natura Nutrix – Homo Vorax”.
The fractures that characterize in several modes, often dramatically, our life on earth, both the big changes in the intern act of a process of globalization, that involves art, encouraging a confrontation probably included, and justifies – in our case – the presence of the European and American artists, and of the representatives from China and Taiwan.
Exploring new ways that lead to art doesn’t interest us per se, but in the relation with the developed topic, thereby the art won’t be the end of itself, as a sterile exercise.
The increasingly strong pursuit of political events, that are threatening the artistic-cultural patrimony on a global level and opening profound wounds in the ecologic balance of our planet, carry the ACIT of Venice to form a line with sovereign institutions, such as the Biennale of Art in Venice and the EXPO in Milan, also lending its own voice, in the conviction that art is a saving mean for humanity.
The exposition conceived for 2015 moves between two poles: the nature, gracious mother, and the human, greedy of power that he attacks her. To defend herself, the Nature makes herself stepmother.
Therefore on one side artistic expressions of a new avant-garde, that present us a world in which we would like to live; on the other side expressions of a violent and contaminated nature.
The performance of the artist Mia Florentine Weiss, with her “Pegasus”, gives back dignity to the human. The winged horse symbolizes the creative thought, the human longing for liberty trough Art.
Natura Nutrix – Homo Vorax arises from the observation of the level of bitterness achieved by daily life, by violent nature, by uncontrolled science, by art that isn’t usable anymore.
The obligation of the artists is turned towards the sensitization of the consciousness in the actual unbearable situation, in order to promote a close reflection on the crisis of events and of values, and to transmit a strong message of hope.
