Vittore Carpaccio: Dipinti e Disegni

Vittore Carpaccio, the man who painted the glory of the city of Venice

Palazzo Ducale, Piazza San Marco 1, Venice, Italy

Mainly known for his religious paintings, Vittore Carpaccio (1460 – 1525) represents the glory of the city of Venice, linking the representation of the urban scene to poetic fantasies. After almost 60 years since his last monographic exhibition at Palazzo Ducale (1963), this show has been developed in collaboration with The National Gallery of Washington.

Thanks to loans from European and American collections, the exhibition reconstruct the path of the artist, from a young age up to his artistic maturity.
