Yang Yexin: The Man Who Threw Away Golden Rice

The exhibition centres on the new performance artwork “Art or Gold?”. For ten consecutive days during the Biennale, pure golden rice grains made from solid gold are scattered around the gallery and its vicinity, allowing the public to collect them freely.

This gesture serves as an interrogation of the relationships between art and capital, Eastern and Western values, and the distribution of global resources. Curated by Wang Chunchen, the project invites audiences to witness a symbolic “invasion by gold” and addresses the choice between artistic value and material wealth.
