Christian Fogarolli: Pneuma at Löwenbräukunst contemporary art center Zurich
The exhibition presents in Zurich the project "Pneuma", among the winners of the Italian Council (6th Edition 2019)
The exhibition at Löwenbräukunst Contemporary Art Center and schwarzescafé, Zurich, by Christian Fogarolli is part of the “Pneuma” project, supported by the Italian Council (6th Edition 2019) program to promote Italian contemporary art in the world by the Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity of the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism.
The research project by Fogarolli focuses on the concept of mental health in contemporary society, also in relation to the current global health crisis. Fogarolli studied the concept of stigma often associated with mental illness, through residencies and collaboration with several European institutions in ten different countries. In Switzerland, he referred to “Ensa Mental Health First Aid”, a first aid programme for mental health, born to train people not of the sector to recognise mental problems in their environments.
The exhibition at Löwenbräukunst includes a large installation made of glass sculptures and various materials, in dialogue with a film screened in the spaces of the schwarzescafé. Visitors are engaged in a programme of meetings, performances, and talks on the theme.
