“One might ask why a sculpture, based on a simple gesture, has to be this big. My understanding is that, at first glance, landscape is very elementary. Vegetation, animals, insects, rocks, and structures. All of them build a big picture. Everything is the same–an oak tree is an oak tree, but each has its own expression. That is what makes life precious.”
