The International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia is the most prestigious cultural institution in the world. Ever since its foundation in 1895, it has been in the avant-garde, promoting new artistic trends and organizing international events in the contemporary arts in accordance with a multi-disciplinary model, which characterizes its unique nature.

The Foundation’s venues, which receive a vast international public are not owned by it but are made available by law by the Venice City Council – the Giardini di Castello (visual arts and architecture), the Arsenale (visual arts and architecture).

The 60th Venice Art Biennale

The 60th edition of the Venice Art Biennale, titled “Foreigners Everywhere” opens to the public on April 20th and runs until November 24th, 2024, with 88 pavilions, 30 collateral events and a multitude of concomitant exhibitions and events around the lagoon.

The 18th International Architecture Exhibition

The 18th International Architecture Exhibition, “The Laboratory of the Future”, curated by Lesley Lokko and organised by La Biennale di Venezia, takes place from Saturday May 20 to Sunday November 26, 2023 at the Giardini and the Arsenale, and at Forte Marghera.

The 59th Venice Biennale

The 59th edition of the Venice Art Biennale, under the title of “The Milk of Dreams”, opens to the public on April 23rd and will remain open until November 27th. The curator Cecilia Alemani, the first Italian woman to curate an Art Biennale, wants to record the convulsions of our times and help us imagine new forms of coexistence. The centre of the stage is returned to women and the crisis of man as the fulcrum of the universe, is questioned. 80 countries are participating this year, 5 of which for the first time at the Venice Art Biennale and 30 Collateral events are taking over the entire city.

The 17th International Architecture Exhibition

Titled ” How will we live together?”, the 17th International Architecture Exhibition, under the direction of new president Roberto Cicutto, runs 22 May to 21 November 2021 at the Giardini, the Arsenale, and Forte Marghera, and it is curated by architect and scholar Hashim Sarkis.

The 58th Venice Biennale

May 9th – November 24th, 2019
Under the title “May You Live in Interesting Times”, the 58th International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia is curated by Ralph Rugoff and organized by La Biennale di Venezia chaired by Paolo Baratta. The Exhibition takes place at the Central Pavilion (Giardini) and the Arsenale, and includes 79 artists from all over the world. It also includes 90 National Participations and 21 Collateral Events

The 57th Venice Biennale

May 13 – November 11, 2017
Under the curatorship of Christine Macel, the 57th International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia opens on May 13, 2020 under the title “Viva Arte Viva”. This edition is dedicated to celebrating the very existence of art and artists. In Christine Macel’s words “Viva Arte Viva is an exclamation, a passionate outcry for art and the state of the artist. Viva Arte Viva is a Biennale designed with artists, by artists and for artists”.
