Design Miami in Basel

Thirty international galleries of historical and contemporary design will be present, exhibiting the best of past and present collectable pieces.

While the Curio section invites architects, curators, designers, innovators and gallery owners to propose unprecedented and contemporary visions of living, creating domestic settings to be explored. At Design Miami/Basel 2022, 17 projects will be hosted at Curio. To name a few: the work of Ukrainian designer Victoria Yakusha with the Faina Gallery in Antwerp; a mobile exhibition by French designer Maria Piselli, who will propose 5 installations for a collection of unique jewellery pieces, including Choc Chisel, a 2.5 metre high chisel-shaped ash wood sculpture, a symbol of the action of unhinging society’s conventional codes; the Paul Bourdet Fine Furniture gallery with an exhibition of Philippe Starck’s historic projects investigating the relationship with nature.

There will also be Podium‘s debut in the Swiss edition, an exhibition curated by Maria Cristina Didero which, through a selection of museum pieces, explores the theme of the event from a historical perspective: “The Golden Age: Rooted in the Past“. Among the works on display are pieces by masters such as Carlo Mollino and Shiro Kuramata. The Podium exhibition will have a double life, physical and digital, with all works also available for purchase online for the duration of the fair.
