VOLTA 2026

Messepl. 21, 4058 Basel, Switzerland

Now in its 21st edition, VOLTA has long been a springboard for emerging talent and an incubator for ideas that shape the future of contemporary art.

Showcasing 78 galleries from 26 countries, it presents a dynamic mix of established and emerging talent, highlighting experimental curatorial practices from emerging galleries, encouraging cross-cultural dialogue while also celebrating the strong local scene with the participation of 15 Swiss galleries.

Everywhen: Contemporary Aboriginal Art

VOLTA’s 2026 thematic Pavilion, “Everywhen: Contemporary Aboriginal Art”, endeavours to tell the powerful stories of contemporary Aboriginal artists, exploring the Indigenous concept of time as a continuum in which the past, present, and future coexist simultaneously.

With a past extending more than 65,000 years, the Pavilion connects visitors with ancient histories, ancestral mythologies, cultural traditions, and the vibrant contemporary art practices being created today.

In partnership with This is Basel, the 2026 edition of VOLTA again pays tribute to the fair’s founding city of Basel.

The 5,000 Edit

The 5,000 Edit is a curated selection of artworks priced at and under CHF 5,000, reflecting VOLTA’s long-standing commitment to the emerging market.

It creates opportunities to discover new artists and make informed, meaningful acquisitions.

Bringing together over 30 galleries, the initiative offers an entry point for new and evolving collectors, while supporting artists at a pivotal stage in their practice.

Emerge + Engage

The programme continues to create a space for further conversations to unfold in real time.
