Art Basel Hong Kong 2018: BMW Art Journey

Launched in 2015, the BMW Art Journey is a global collaboration between Art Basel and BMW, which has been created to recognise and support emerging artists worldwide. The prize is open to artists who are showing their work at the Discoveries sector in Hong Kong and the latest shortlist will be announced during Art Basel with a presentation in the BMW Lounge.
India-based artist Astha Butail won the BMW Art Journey following her work in the Discoveries sector at Art Basel’s Hong Kong show in 2017. Astha’s project ‘In the Absence of Writing’, which serves as an homage to the intangible oral traditions that are still alive today, will premiere during Art Basel’s Hong Kong show this March.

Designed by Chinese emerging artist Cao Fei, BMW Art Car #18 will also be showcased at the BMW Longue, putting the spotlight on Chinese culture through augmented and virtual realities.
