Design Miami 2019
Known as the global forum for design, Design Miami/ brings together the most influential collectors, gallerists, designers, curators and critics from around the world in celebration of design culture and commerce. Each edition offers exclusive commercial opportunities with cultural programming, panels and lectures with luminaries from the worlds of design, architecture, art and fashion, and unique commissions from the world’s top emerging and established designers and architects.
Galleries
At the core of the Design Miami/ forum is a marketplace for collectible design, amid which the most reputable international design galleries present curated exhibitions of museum-quality furniture, lighting and objets d’art, attracting the highest level of private and public collectors of historical and contemporary design.
Curio
Curio is Design Miami’s exhibition platform which invites designers, curators, innovators and gallerists to present cabinets of curiosity throughout the fair. The Curios are interspersed amongst Design Miami’s core galleries, infusing the fair’s exhibition programme with inventive snapshots of today’s design landscape.
Commission
Each December, Design Miami/ commissions early-career architects to build a designed environment for the fair’s entrance as part of its Design Commissions programme.
Collaborations
Design Miami/ collaborates with institutions, partners and sponsors to present newly commissioned works of design at each fair. These collaborations take the shape of immersive installations, curated exhibitions and unique objects that celebrate design innovation and express keen enthusiasm for design patronage.
Design Forum
Design Miami’s Design Forum presented by SCAD presents the design world’s most compelling current topics, bringing together the creatives, collectors and critics actively influencing design discourse and production.
Satellites
Design Miami/ invites designers, businesses and institutions to create unique exhibitions with strong curatorial and educational perspectives. Each satellite programme reflects a contemporary view on what’s happening in the design world at large.
