Fair 2017

Brickell City Centre (BCC), Miami’s newest urban shopping epicenter, will be home to Fair., an alternative, non-commercial contemporary art fair set to be a historic convening of some of the world’s most iconic and trailblazing women artists. Fair. offers art enthusiasts a chance to participate in Yoko Ono’s nationally-acclaimed Wish Tree activation, view the Guerrilla Girls’ provocative billboards protesting gender and racial inequality (on display in Miami for the very first time), catch a special performance art by the all-women mariachi band, Mariachi Flor de Toloache, and see works from more than 50 additional women artists. Zoe Lukov, director of exhibitions for Faena Art, and Anthony Spinello, Miami-based curator and founder of gallery and production house Spinello Projects, conceptualized Fair. as a space for women artists to create site-specific interventions in a non-traditional venue. Fair.’s three organizing principles include Fair Market., Fair Play. and Fair Trade.

Sectors:

Market: a 5,000 square-foot raw storefront space featuring artists’ billboards, posters, apparel & more with a focus on gender inequality, marketing tactics, commerce, labor & fair wage.

Play: the video sector curated by Micol Hebron presented in partnership with CMX Cinema, which will feature The Femmes’ Video Art Festival projected onto CMX’s large-scale LED viewing screen.

Trade: major public works, performances and happenings within and throughout Brickell City Centre encouraging participation and/or an immediate exchange of ideas between artists and viewers.
