Outsider Art Fair, Paris
Presented by Wide Open Arts, OAF Paris 2016 will feature 38 galleries, including 15 new exhibitors, showcasing a wide range of artworks vetted by a committee of specialists in the field. This year’s OAF Paris will place renewed emphasis on historical Art Brut, while at the same time retaining its focus on showcasing the work of self-taught artists working outside the mainstream.
This year’s OAF Talks will feature a panel discussion on October 21, moderated by renowned curator Emmanuel Daydé. Titled “Beyond Art, the Art of the Afterlife,” the panel will trace the lineage of Mediumistic art, from its prevalence in Outsider art to its resurgence within a Contemporary art context.
For this year’s curated space, Gérard Audinet, Director of Maisons de Victor Hugo, will curate a booth of self-portraits from Bruno Decharme’s Collection ABCD, titled “Self-Portrait With My Neuroses.” The self-portraits of two artists associated with Victor Hugo will bookend the booth – his nephew Léopold Hugo, and François Chifflart, who created illustrations for several of Hugo’s novels.
The booth will also include self-portraits by artists such as Fernand Desmoulin, F. Sedlák, Helen Butler Wells, Josefa Tolra, Edmund Monsiel, Hugo d’Alesi, Emile Hodinos, Camille Renault, and Hans Hoffe.
A second curated space will feature a solo presentation of works by the late Austrian artist Franz Huemer (1924-2012).
