Artissima 2018

Founded in 1994, Artissima is the most prestigious Italian art fair dedicated to the international market with a focus on experimentation and research.

The central part of Artissima is divided into 4 sections:

Main Section: established galleries on the international contemporary art scene.
Dialogue: emerging galleries or galleries with an experimental approach applying with either a monographic booth or with works by 2-3 artists in dialogue.
New Entries: galleries that have been open for less than five years and are at the fair in Turin for the first time.
Art Spaces & Editions: galleries and no profit spaces presenting editions, prints and multiples by contemporary artists.

Other sectors and projects of the fair are:

Present Future: emerging talents, selected by a board of young curators (Cloé Perrone, independent curator, Roma, New York; Myriam Ben Salah, independent curator and writer, Paris; Juan Canela, independent curator and writer, Barcelona). The artists are presented by the galleries that represent them, along a specially designed itinerary. The works of the invited artists include new productions as well as projects that are being displayed for the first time in Italy and Europe.

Back to the Future: solo exhibitions of the great pioneers of contemporary art of the period of 1980–1994, selected by Anna Daneri, independent curator, Genova – Milano and curator, Villa Croce Museum, Genova; Cristiano Raimondi, head of development and international projects, Nouveau Musée National de Monaco; Gabriela Rangel, independent curator and writer, New York; Pietro Rigolo, special collections archivist, The Getty Research Institute, Los Angeles.
The section aims to bring international artists who have played a fundamental role in contemporary art back into the limelight. For the general public, Back to the Future is a unique opportunity to get to know important works from those years in a dialogue with today’s experimentation.

Disegni: a section devoted to the expressive medium of drawing. The section is intended to celebrate an artistic discipline capable of expressing the immediacy of and the thinking behind the creative gesture, existing in a space suspended between idea and finished work. Curatorial Committee: Luís Silva and João Mourão, directors, Kunsthalle Lissabon, Lisbon

Sound: monographic sound projects in the contemporary art scenario, presented by galleries participating in the 2018 edition of the fair and selected by an international team of curators (Yann Chateigné, curator and art critic, Geneva; Nicola Ricciardi, artistic director, OGR – Officine Grandi Riparazioni, Torino). Sound will take place in a different venue, the OGR – Officine Grandi Riparazioni, Torino.
