17th Venice Architecture Biennale: Special Projects
The 17th International Architecture Exhibition features a series of special events and participations out of competition.
The Arsenale hosts the special event “Idee di Pietra – Olmo (Ideas of Stone- Elm)“ by Giuseppe Penone, developed in close collaboration with Chus Martinez and commissioned and presented by the Vuslat Foundation.
The Central Pavilion at the Giardini is the setting of Israeli artist Michal Rovner‘s special participation.
Here, the “collective exhibition within the exhibition” Future Assembly is also on view by Studio Other Spaces (Berlin, Germany) – represented by Olafur Eliasson and Sebastian Behmann – with Caroline A. Jones; Hadeel Ibrahim; Kumi Naidoo; Mariana Mazzucato; Mary Robinson; Paola Antonelli.
On view also “Sport Platform” by Architekt Christoph Lechner & Partners (Vienna, Austria), featuring the participation of Christoph Lechner (Austria, 1966) with Georg Wizany; Reto Schindler; Kevin Moore; Trevor Smith; Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum; Institute of Sport Sciences at the University of Vienna; Park Books.
For the fifth year in a row, La Biennale di Venezia and Victoria and Albert Museum in London collaborate to present the Special Project at the Pavilion of Applied Arts (Arsenale, Sale d’Armi A) in collaboration with the author and architect Shahed Saleem. Under the title “Three British Mosques”, the project investigates the self-built and often undocumented world of adapted mosques.
