Caffè Platti 1875
Between 1870 and 1875, on the corner of Corso Vittorio Emanuele II and Corso Re Umberto, a liquor shop named Principe Umberto opened its doors. Later acquired by brothers Ernesto and Pietro Platti, it was transformed into Caffè Platti, soon destined to become a Turin institution – a social and cultural landmark throughout the 20th century.
The patisserie, crafted by master pastry chefs, ranges from timeless classics to Piedmontese specialties, including the iconic Torta Platti, whose recipe remains a closely guarded secret. Renowned for one of the most elegant breakfasts in Turin, the café serves handmade croissants, pastries, cakes, and its signature mignon – small, exquisite bites that delight both eye and palate in a setting rich with old-world charm.
