Audo House

In Nordhavn, the former free port of Copenhagen, Audo House occupies one of the oldest buildings in a district now defined by new towers, harbourfront cafés and public harbour baths. The red-brick Neo-Baroque corner building dates from 1918 and served as a merchant house. Since 2019 it has been the home of the Danish design brand Audo Copenhagen, formerly known as MENU. Founder Bjarne Hansen conceived the project with Jonas Bjerre-Poulsen of Norm Architects and Kinfolk co-founder Nathan Williams, and the name comes from the Latin ab uno disce omnes, "from one, learn all".

Norm Architects preserved the historic façades and freely reshaped the concrete structure inside, working with around twenty local partners, among them woodworkers, tilemakers and textile producers. The house brings together the brand's headquarters, a concept shop, a café and event spaces, and works as a living showroom where guests experience the collections in use.

The 10 rooms sit under the roof, with sloping ceilings. In the main wing, the beams of the third floor have been exposed, raising the ceilings to four and a half metres. Each room is furnished with Audo Copenhagen pieces, books, artworks and accessories, and a complimentary minibar is restocked with a rotating selection of drinks and snacks. On the ground floor, the café Wulff & Konstali serves breakfast and lunch, including a brunch where guests build their own plate. Behind the building, an open courtyard and a raised wooden terrace invite visitors to linger.
