The Beaumont
A five-star luxury London hotel with 50 rooms and 23 suites and studios
The Beaumont occupies an Art Deco building on Brown Hart Gardens, built in 1926 as a car park for shoppers at nearby Selfridges and used as a garage until 2009. Corbin & King converted it into a hotel in 2014 and gave it the feel of a grand American hotel of the 1920s and 1930s, with walnut panelling, bronze details and black-and-white photographs of the period. The 73 rooms and suites, designed with Richmond International, follow the same line in a quieter key, with timber headboards, mohair chairs and marble bathrooms.
On the façade, a giant crouching figure made of stainless-steel blocks marks ROOM, the suite that Antony Gormley conceived as an inhabitable sculpture; inside, a narrow bedroom lined in dark oak rises to about ten metres. Le Magritte mixes classic cocktails and The Gatsby Room serves afternoon tea, while at Rosi the chef Lisa Goodwin-Allen cooks modern British dishes from seasonal produce.
