Chanthaburi

Chanthaburi is a long-running Thai restaurant in Basel’s Kleinbasel district, led by chef Sairung Suksamran, originally from the Thai province of Chanthaburi. The restaurant is known for its strongly traditional approach, focusing on authentic Thai recipes prepared with imported ingredients and fresh herbs.

The menu centres on classic Thai dishes – curries, soups, noodles and seafood preparations – remaining close to regional Thai traditions rather than adapting heavily to European tastes. Inside, the atmosphere is warm, with a winter garden, a leafy courtyard and intimate dining rooms that give the restaurant a calm, family-run character.
