Aranyszarvas
The menu offers well-presented, stout Hungarian classics; its name means ‘golden deer’ and game is a speciality.
Set in an 18th-century inn literally down the steps from the southern end of Castle Hill, the Aranyszarvas serves up some very meaty and unusual dishes (try the saddle of boar with celeriac and sage or the duck breast with bok choy).
The covered outside terrace is a delight in summer, and the views upward of the Royal Palace are really beautiful.
