Admiralgade 26
Set in a historic house dating from 1796 in one of Copenhagen’s oldest quarters, this relaxed wine bar and bistro combines Japanese influences with an eclectic, highly considered interior. The atmosphere recalls a stylish 1970s Danish home, with an ever-changing arrangement of vintage furniture, floor lamps and design pieces, including original Jean Prouvé sconces in the kitchen.
Co-owner Christian Nedergaard has created a place where food and wine are approached with equal curiosity. The constantly changing à la carte menu focuses on seasonal vegetables, fish and meat, bringing together Japanese references and unexpected combinations. The playful wine list is organised according to different moods and occasions, with Nedergaard often on hand to recommend bottles from the cellar.
On Saturdays, the restaurant serves Choushoku, a Japanese-inspired breakfast for lunch. Served from 11:30 a.m., it centres around rice, miso soup and eggs, accompanied by vegetables and fish to share. Nine servings arrive together at the table, with the option to add further dishes and dessert. Tea is a natural pairing, alongside sake, wine, beer, kombucha and other non-alcoholic drinks.
