Rifugio Scotoni
Immersed in the Dolomites, the Scotoni Mountain Hut in Alta Badia offers both accommodation and delicious cuisine at an altitude of 1,985 metres above sea level. Owned by the Agreiter family for over 50 years, the Hut is run with great care and passion, preserving the unique atmosphere of a true Alpine refuge, where luxury, in the traditional sense, has no place – what truly matters is warmth and good food.
Based on simple and genuine ingredients, the cuisine of the Scotoni Mountain Hut features culinary gems that make guests turn back again and again in order to evoke these authentic and rich flavours, inspired by the Tyrolean traditions.
The menu tempts, first of all, with BBQ specialities, including ribs, sausages, grilled vegetables. Behind the grill there is the owner Christian himself. The other intriguing proposal include goulash soup, home-made pasta, polenta with melted cheese, as well as marvellous desserts: strudels, cakes, pies and even jams are all home-made. Especially beloved by the guests is the local Kaiserschmarrn, renowned for its distinctive taste and tender texture.
Particular attention is paid to the choice of the ingredients, focussed on high quality and, whenever possible, on local origins, such as, for example, potatoes grown in the nearby Puster Valley. The same approach is valid for cheeses and cured meats – obviously produced in South Tyrol, while flavoursome speck is home-made. Even the wine list that contains more than 400 labels, gives the leading roles to the best South Tyrolean wine brands.
