Sessions Arts Club
Sessions Arts Club occupies the former judges' dining room on the fourth floor of Sessions House, the eighteenth-century courthouse on Clerkenwell Green. The painter Jonny Gent and his partners restored the room but kept its faded plaster walls, tall columns and arched windows, and filled it with furniture found in markets and salvage yards. A mezzanine looks down over the tables, and in the evening the room is lit by candles.
The kitchen cooks seasonal British produce with a Mediterranean slant. Its menu of small and larger plates might include oysters, mussels and turbot alongside a Jerusalem artichoke risotto or goat's curd with rainbow chard, and the wine list is long and eclectic. On Sundays the restaurant serves long lunches of pies, roasts and trifle, and guest chefs take over from time to time. During Frieze London the team also runs a restaurant inside the fair in Regent's Park.
