Barrón
Barrón Restaurant is located in the San Miguel Chapultepec neighbourhood, one of the calmest areas in Mexico City. It could be described as a ‘hidden’ culinary gem, as despite opening in mid-July 2023, its growth has been entirely organic.
Barrón’s entire concept revolves around comfort food. Chef Miguel Rodríguez aims to take diners back to childhood through dishes that evoke home-cooked flavours. All of this is done using deeply local techniques, recipes and ingredients, executed with precision and care. In the morning, highlights include the portobello toast — a rustic loaf topped with fava-bean hummus and portobello mushrooms — as well as chilaquiles with skirt steak, molletes with confit pork, and French toast.
For lunch and dinner, standout dishes include the skirt-steak tostada, tacos campechanos, ribeye with a totomoxtle crust, and rice with prawns. The restaurant also offers an excellent selection of wines, cocktails and desserts, rounding out a menu that celebrates Mexican comfort food at its very best.
