Opened in 1998 by Chef Gabriela Cámara, Contramar remains one of Mexico City’s most beloved seafood destinations. With its marine-themed murals and open kitchen, the restaurant had already established itself as a seafood institution long before the Roma neighbourhood became trendy. The menu celebrates the flavours of Mexico’s coast: crisp tostadas piled high with raw seafood, delicate pulpo a la Gallega, and the unmissable pescado a la talla.
