Maza Bistrot
The word “Maza मज़ा [mazā]” in Hindi means joy, pleasure — “Something that makes you happy”.
Maza Bistrot, situated in a neighbourhood full of restaurants and bar, is inspired by a Franco-Indian love story, two cultures come together through gastronomy to awaken the senses, and it brings something refreshingly different: new flavours, via India. Run by husband-and-wife duo Rohan Chanana and Caroline Astier Chanana, Maza Bistrot is the culmination of a shared passion for cooking and hosting, and an elevated take on Indian cuisine.
The space is warm, with tall ceilings, amber lighting, and spacious wooden tables. The food is the main event. Standout dishes include biryani baked under pastry en croûte, a Mumbai-style slider with squishy house-made buns holding spiced potato, and pakoras, curries and raj kachori, showered in crunchy bits, sauces, seeds and herbs. Desserts include Indian classics such as kulfi and gulab jamun, alongside a crêpe.
Drinks are kept simple and thoughtful: beer and wine, kombucha, and a selection of Indian beverages including a seasonal lassi, rose sharbat, chaach, and cardamom-laced chai.
