Da Martino
Da Martino is a long-standing family-run trattoria in Milan’s Isola district, opened in the 1950s and still carrying much of its original atmosphere. The setting is simple and far from fashionable, and it is this straightforward character that has made it a favourite among locals.
The menu focuses on Lombard and Italian classics, with dishes like polenta, vitello tonnato and the house specialty: a large bone-in cotoletta, often served “orecchia d’elefante” style. Portions are generous and the cooking is traditional and consistent. Alongside the food, the wine list mixes established labels with a selection of bottles from smaller, younger producers. Prices remain relatively moderate by Milan standards, which means tables are often in high demand.
