Kappou Ninomiya

Kappou Ninomiya is a Japanese restaurant in Milan’s Gambara area led by chef Yoshikazu Ninomiya. The project centres on the traditional Japanese kappō style, where diners sit close to the kitchen and watch the chef prepare dishes directly in front of them.

The menu explores classic Japanese cuisine with a broad range of preparations using ingredients sourced from both Japan and Italy. The approach emphasises precision and simplicity, reflecting the philosophy behind kappō cooking, literally meaning “to cut and cook”, The dining room is small and understated, with a central counter that places the chef’s work at the centre of the experience, creating an intimate setting reminiscent of traditional Japanese restaurants.
