Pan
A Japanese-inspired bakery, bistrot, and wine bar in the Dateo district of Milan.
Located near Piazzale Susa, Pan is a unique venue that blends a bakery, café, and bistrot, offering everything from freshly baked goods to coffee and aperitifs. Drawing inspiration from the concept of cultural crossover, the space and menu at Pan move far beyond the typical sushi bar. Designed by Studio Wok, the interiors reflect a contemporary reinterpretation of Japanese elements. One of the standout features is the ceiling, draped with light green matcha-colored fabric reminiscent of noren—traditional Japanese textile dividers. This decorative choice serves both an aesthetic and practical function, allowing for plenty of natural light while creating a subtle connection to Japanese traditions.
In the morning, Pan operates as a bakery, offering a delightful mix of traditional Japanese sweets and French-style viennoiserie, including classic croissants, pain au chocolat, and pain suisse. A standout is the shokupan, a soft and fluffy Japanese milk bread that resembles a loaf of sandwich bread.
As the day progresses, Pan transitions into a bistrot, offering more refined dishes for lunch and dinner, such as shakshuka with tomato bread pudding and karaage (Japanese fried chicken). Don’t miss out on the popular Sunday brunch or the wine bar on weekends.
