Trattoria Masuelli

The taste of tradition between Milan and Piedmont.

Officially recognised as a “Bottega Storica”, Trattoria Masuelli is a historic Milanese restaurant where the Masuelli family has welcomed guests since 1921, delighting them with a blend of Milanese and Piedmontese cuisine.

The philosophy of hospitality here creates a magical, vibrant, and joyous experience. The crisp white tablecloths, the enveloping light from Venini chandeliers from the 1930s designed by Gio’ Ponti, the original Thonet chairs from the 1920s, and the boiserie walls adorned with photos, international recognitions, and dedications from writers and gastronomic icons– each element tells the story of a tradition in constant evolution.

Today, Max Masuelli, third-generation chef, continues this legacy, combining timeless Milanese recepies with creative reinterpretations. The cuisine offers a simple yet profound fullness of flavour, born from passion, technique, and expertise. Signature dishes include the cotoletta alla milanese, light and crispy with the bone, and the award-winning risotto allo zafferano. The menu also features traditional specialties like polenta made from stone-ground eight-row corn, a perfect match for dishes such as cod, foiolo (a traditional pork dish), and the classic cassoeula.
