Trattoria Nuovo Macello

A historic Milanese restaurant serving traditional cuisine with a contemporary reinterpretation.

Established in 1928 and under the current management since 1959, Trattoria del Nuovo Macello was named after the nearby slaughterhouse that was located just across the street. It is a historic venue deeply rooted in the heart of Milan’s culinary tradition, where honest food and genuine hospitality have always been at the forefront. While many things have changed over the years, the essence remains the same. The old radio and enamelled jugs still adorn the Trattoria, preserving the spirit passed down through generations of those who have loved and crafted authentic Milanese dishes.

The philosophy is simple: select the finest ingredients with care and prepare them with creativity and passion. The menu honours Italian tradition while offering a modern interpretation, with dishes that retain the flavours of the past but are reimagined with a contemporary twist. A standout dish is the cotoletta alla milanese – a thick, 40-day aged veal cutlet, an exceptional example of Milanese culinary heritage.
