Borchardt
Since 1895 an authority of Berlin’s kitchen, borchardt readapts and celebrates classic recipes of german-french cuisine, combining new approaches with traditional dishes à la Wiener Schnitzel.
The restaurant can claim a 150-year history: the main site of the borchardt company in Französische Straße is open since 1853, supplied the Kaiser in the Wilhelmine era and went on to survive the Second World War and the city’s division by the Berlin Wall. After reunification the premises closed and underwent extensive renovation. In 1992 the restaurant was reopened by Roland Mary. The current dining space on Gendarmenmarkt was formerly a market hall.
