Contesto Alimentare
Contesto Alimentare, conceived as a country trattoria transplanted into the city, was born from the vision of Francesca and Matteo, who set out to create a clean, white space to be brought to life by the people who inhabit it — a place not only to eat, but also to reflect on food and its cultural significance. The restaurant combines the culinary traditions of the Langhe and Monferrato with those of the diverse communities that shape Turin. The result is a new urban cuisine, rooted in local heritage yet open to the influences of a multicultural city.
The restaurant’s unusual name pays tribute to the anthropologist Marc Augé and his reflections on ‘places’ and ‘non-places’: spaces that foster identity, exchange and human connection, as opposed to anonymous environments defined by haste and depersonalisation.
