Title: It Never Ssst
Commissioner: Caroline Gennez, Flemish Minister for Welfare and Poverty Reduction, Culture and Equal Opportunities
Curator: Caroline Dumalin
Exhibitor: Miet Warlop
Developed by artist Miet Warlop and curator Caroline Dumalin, the project is a living and musical sculpture performed daily. It builds upon the artist’s previous participatory works, such as “One Song” and “Chant for Hope”, further exploring the interplay between performers and an international audience.
The work features three cheerleaders who activate a transformed architecture resembling a traditional supporters’ room. Through different waves of intensity, the performers use animated matter and ritual techniques to make words palpable. This performance addresses the relentless rhythm of everyday life and the search for human connection within an increasingly lonely society.
The musical component is created in collaboration with the label DEEWEE. The exhibition is supported by institutional partners MORPHO and KANAL-Centre Pompidou, with the latter scheduled to restage the project in Brussels in 2027.
